We gave the Middle East more specifically the Abbasid Empire a four and a half out of five wens. We gave the Abbasid Empire this because under the empire many changes occurred, Most of the changes boosted the economy and made the citizens of the empire much more pleased and made them like the society in which they lived. Under the Abbasid they create equality of all Muslims. Halted the large Military conquests to stop over taxing the empire and focus more on education rather than expansion. The empire of caliphs reached its greatest wealth and power. Because of all these change the Muslim civilization flourished. These changes ended discrimination of non Arabs accepting everyone. One of the greatest traits of the empire which gives it its four in a half out of five wens is that it encouraged learning, all in all making it flourish. The Abbasid empire also accomplished many things such as, between 750-1350 they built a vast trading network, money in the economy, partnerships, credit, they formed banks, had bank checks, they manufactured goods which were highly sought out, there agriculture thrives, they have social mobility making it very appealing to the lower class, but they did practice slavery which is unethical but helped there economy. The Abbasid Empire also focused much of its time on Art, Literature and Architecture. Some examples of this are that they focused on poetry and had the art if beautiful handwriting called calligraphy. There Architecture in 688 of the Dome of the Rock was a very challenging piece which still stands today. They also founded Library of Baghdad which was a learning center in the Empire. Lastly the Abbasid’s Muslim Scholars preserved ancient philosophy and history. The Abbasids also had advances in astronomy, mathematics and medicine. As one can read the Abbasid empire would have been a very welcoming and great place to live during the Middle ages, but China was even greater and could take over the world, according to Marco Polo, a European explorer, who said in one of his journal's " Furthermore there exists in this city the palace of the king who fled, him who was Emperor of Manzi [the Emperor Tu-Tsong], and that is the greatest palace in the world...." Marco Polo also states that China was the best civilization during that time because of it Technology and economic advances.
